Seva Week: Joy of Giving at Bengaluru

Devotees and students across various Amrita institutions at Karnataka which includes seven ‘Amrita Vidyalayam’ and Engineering, Biosciences, Management, Education and Arts and Science under the two campuses of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, took part in several seva activities on account of Amritavarsham60. Having taken part in several service activities from their places, they spread Amma’s message of selfless love. A well decorated chariot with Amma’s message and details of seva activities went on a procession. The procession was welcomed by and all.

August 26th marked a special day of service at Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore. Students and staff enthusiastically donated blood and collected 410 units of blood.

September 1, Sunday, around 1000 students, teaching and non-teaching staff of Amrita college started took part in cleaning the K.R. market, Bangalore. President of BBMP M. Lakshminarayan, extended his full support to the activity by being there in person. Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao who was the guest of honour spoke a few words about Amma’s role in instilling social values in people and also inaugurated the procession from the BBMP headquarters. Sri Ashwatthanarayana, Corporator and Swami Amritageethananda Puri of Amritanandamayi Math, Bangalore, were also present.

On September 18, the students  and faculty members of Amrita college celebrated ‘Joy of Giving’ to mark Amma’s 60th birthday. Around 400 workers of Amrita college including the security staff, mess workers, cooks, house-keepers were served with food and gifts.

On September 21st, the college organized a “Multi-Organ Donation Camp”. Around 600 people from the college came forward to register their organs for donation since there is a huge demand for eyes and other organs during medical emergencies.

As a tribute to Amma’s mission and teachings, students of ‘Amrita Vidyalayam’ took up the cleaning activities at various public places on September 12th.
