One of the many books released
by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math during the Amritavarsham50 Celebrations
was Embracing the World: Images & Sayings of
Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi. The simplicity
and the beauty of this book has to be seen to be believed.
It is a poignant collection of photographs coupled
with Amma’s teachings—a treasure to browse
again and again. The 54 pictures and 54 images encapsulating
the core of Amma’s message: love, compassion
and selflessness. |

The hard-cover glossy-papered book shows Amma giving darshan to the entire creation. There are pictures of Amma with the very young and the very old; with those from the East and the West; with Hindu and Buddhist monks, Christian nuns, and Muslims; as well as photographs of Amma embracing plants, animals, and even the holy river Ganga.
The book was released on 24 September by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri. A.K. Antony in the presence of Amma and the Deputy Prime Minister of India, Shri. L.K. Advani. The first copy was received by Ms. Yolanda King, daughter of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Non-violent Social Change. |
