Since her student days at Sree Shankara College, Kalady, near her native town of Perumbvoor, Dr. Beevi’s academic studies have been steeped in the study of India’s ancient philosophy of Vedanta. After attaining her Master’s degree, she spent six years in research activities at the Sree Shankaracharya University of Sanskrit, (SSUS), which centred on “Symbols in the Upanisads.” It is the first PhD by a Muslim woman on Advaita Vedanta. |

Since 1982, she has pursued an academic career, engaged in
teaching and research in the SSUS and Government Sanskrit
Colleges of Trivandrum and Tripunithura, where she currently
lectures. She is the author of several books. Her book Vedanta
Vichara, written in Sanskrit, is the one of the most
highly appreciated works in scholarly circles. The Government
of Kerala invited her to become a member of the syndicate
of Mahatma Gandhi University.
