Rev. Takeda Hakusai is the senior disciple of Sakai Yuusai Ajari, and chief priest of Hieizan Enryakuji Temple in Kyoto, Japan, Temple, Tendai Buddhism in Kyoto, Japan. Under his teacher (a master of ascetic practices), Rev. Takeda trained at Hiei San Mountain, engaging in spiritual practices with yamabushi (mountain hermit monks). He teaches a course in Buddhist Meditation Traditions as part of the U.S. college of Antioch’s Buddhist Studies study-abroad programme in Kyoto.
