"Her love, smile, kiss and the way She talks to us are things I cannot describe. Her love is forever." —Dr. K.S. Fathima Beevi

How was your day?

“I am very happy to take part in Amritavarsham50. I’ve participated in many functions, but today’s function in the divine presence of our beloved Amma is unforgettable.”

Can you tell us something about yourself?

“I was born and brought up in Kaladi [the birthplace of Sri Shankaracharya]. I studied in Bhrama Nandani High School in Kaladi. My B.A. is from Sri Shankaracharya College in Kaladi. My postgraduate degree is from Government Sanskrit College, Trivandrum, and my Ph.D. is based on the Upanishads.”

Coming from a Muslim family, why did you study Vedanta?

[smiling] “My father was an astrologer. He wanted me to study Sanskrit. I am happy that I could study the Vedas despite being a Muslim. My studies of the Vedas have deepened my understanding of the Koran.”

What do you think of today’s women?

“Today’s women tend to consider feminine qualities, including motherhood, as inhibiting factors. It is high time that such qualities receive their due respect and regard from women themselves.”

Before today’s function, had you ever met Amma?

“Yes. I met Amma in Vallikkavu.”

Can you tell us about your experience with Amma?

“When we go to Amma for darshan, we forget what is happening around us. When Amma hugs us, we feel it to be something special that we have never got from anyone else. Her love, smile, kiss and the way She talks to us are things I cannot describe. Her love is forever.”
