At the time of Amritavarsham50, Dr. Prahalad was a Harvey C. Fruehauf Professor of Business Administration at the University of Michigan, where he specialised in corporate strategy and the role and value of top management in large, diversified, multinational corporations.

Among his many articles and books is Competing for the Future (1994), co-authored with Gary Hamel. Dr. Prahalad has consulted for AT&T, Cargill, Eastman Kodak, Honeywell, ICL, Philips, TRW, Quantum, NCR and Oracle and is also the chairman and co-founder of Praja, an Internet company. He was named one of the “Top-10 Business Professors in the U.S.” by Business Week, and one of the “Top-10 Teachers in the World” by The Wall Street Journal.
